Just Murder
Rehner provides a thrilling mystery in which fictitious characters and events continually challenge the readers' politics. She skillfully uses caption of these people and places to guide the reader through her maze.
This is a fine debut novel from York University professor Jan Rehner that tackles a devilish question: When the justice system fails to protect the innocent, who does? Is there such a thing as a just murder?
The story's pacing is exquisite. The many twists in the plot prod us to wonder just how it will all play out. They are flawless, for they are logical and surprising. Let us hope that this first mystery by Jan Rehner is not her last.
