Positive Women
Voices of Women Living with AIDS
edited by Andrea Rudd and Darien Taylor

"Rudd and Taylor have not edited a depressing litany of tragedy, but rather, have pulled together one of the year's most readable accounts of feminine strength."
Calgary Herald

In Positive Women, contributors from fourteen countries and five continents talk about living with AIDS. All the women are HIV positive, yet their stories are very different, representing a breadth of experience that reflects the diversity of women's lives. They are teachers, scientists, poets, artists, writers and students. Some work in the home, others have lived on the street. Their contributions include journal entries, narratives, poetry, graphic and photographic images. This is a book about women who shatter myths, take control and find their own power in the challenge of living with AIDS. This is an insightful and emotionally moving book which informs and inspires.

About the Editors   Andrea Rudd and Darien Taylor met at a support group for women living with HIV and AIDS in Toronto in 1989. While both responded to their diagnosis and self-nurturing differently, they both agreed that an international anthology of works by women living with HIV and AIDS was a great idea, and Positive Women was the result of their collaboration.
